Lord of the Rings: Gollum Developers Apologize for 'Underwhelming Experience'

Daedalic Entertainment vows to commit towards fixing the game's many bugs

Only a few days after it's initial release last week, the creators of Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedalic Entertainment, has released an official statement proposing that they will fix the ongoing issues that many players are currently facing.

Developers apologized for their delivery as it "did not meet the expectations" of the community and the teams that were involved. From the official Twitter of Gollum, the studio has released a sincere statement regarding their mistakes and are hoping "you (community) enjoy the game to its full potential" after its debugging phase.

The creation behind Lord of the Rings: Gollum, was to showcase the events between Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, especially following the period where Gollum experiences upsetting slavery and captivity in Mordor. In this game, Gollum sets his desires to pursuing the Ring of Power, making players choose between good and evil decisions that will ultimately lead to Gollum receiving his Precious.

Daedalic has mentioned earlier this year, that during the development, the team wanted to respect the lore and offer a challenge that will cause LOTR fans to think beyond just the original storyline.

However, many players aren't able to follow the story all the way through without eventually running into more than a few bugs which include poor environmental rendering, spawning in the abyss, bad AI, and buttons failing to register. This has made many in the LOTR community even more upset after the trailer was teased in 2020 which received some mixed reviews.

As per the developers, they are hoping to see a decline in performance bugs and are determined to keep the community updated as soon as patches are implemented. However, those may be too late as Gollum, is already on track to being the worst game of 2023 so far.
